Speech preparation is well underway at South Coast Speakers Toastmasters, as members prepare for Wednesday’s ‘International Speech and Evaluation’ contest. First and second placed competitors will continue to a district contest; topped ranked speakers at the district level have an opportunity to move on to statewide events.
At Wednesday’s Toastmasters meeting, competitors in the International contest will present a 5-7 minute speech on a topic of their choosing whilst evaluation contestants will critique a ‘test’ speech provided by a visiting judge. The contest is the second for the club and follows a ‘Humorous and Table Topics’ event, which was held on 27 August. Five competitors spoke in each category at the last event with Heather Earle and Kelvin Wilson (Humorous) and Gaetan Nemorin and Barry Dickins (Table Topics) moving on to the district level event.
Well done to everyone that competed in the competition events at our last meeting and good luck to everyone competing this Wednesday.

‘Reach for your star’: Semi annual conference
The toastmasters semi-annual convention will be held in November and provides an opportunity for skill development. Additional information will be forwarded closer to the scheduled time, but here are some details so you can pop the date in the diary.
