This is an exciting time of the year as club speech contests in various categories are just around the corner!
Wednesday, 22nd August 2012 at 7.30pm – Humorous Speech contest and Evaluations
- The contestant prepares a humorous speech of strictly 5 – 7 minutes. The topic for the speech is selected by the contestant and the speaker should avoid potentially objectionable language, anecdotes, and material.
- The contestant in the Evaluation contest will be evaluating a 5 – 7 minute speech presented by Test speaker. The time frame for evaluations is between 2 – 3 minutes.
Wednesday, 12th September 2012, 7.30pm – International Speech contest and Table Topics
- Each participant will prepare an original speech and present this within a time frame of 5 – 7 minutes. It’s up to the participant to choose their own topic. Any quoted material must be identified during the speech. The international speech contest begins at Club level, and proceeds through to area, division, district, semifinal, and International levels.
- Participants for Table Topics will be all given the same topic which will be of general nature. Contestants will not receive any advance knowledge of the topic until they moment, they are introduced by the contest chair. Each participant speaks on that topic between 1 – 2 minutes.
Every one is welcome to come and listen. Only members of good standing are eligible to participate in the speech contests. It’s a fantastic opportunity for non-members to come and find out what Toastmasters can do to people and their communication skills!
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is therefore, not an act, but a habit.
That’s the attitude we like to take on at South Coast Speakers. If you feel inspired to explore your fears and perhaps limitations than come and meet like minded spirits in a supportive environment. With our new VPE (Vice President Education) Daniel Marshall in action, surely there is going to be some new adventures. South Coast Speakers is an Organisation of Toastmasters International. We meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at the San Remo Hotel in San Remo, Victoria (the gateway to Phillip Island). Guests are welcome, please let us know if you need further information. You can contact us (via the contact page) or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
